Day 8- Habitat for Humanity, Musicians’ Village, Last Day

First, a few photos from Day 7, which was also one of the kid’s birthday. At the end of the day, we had cake by the pool and let off a little steam…

The last work day of the trip was similar to the three previous days at Habitat in terms of the work being done. Finishing touches on one, and the exterior frame erected on the other…

But there was also a bitter-sweetness to the day. We were all excited for the work we’d accomplished, but several new friendships were about to become long-distance ones. So, it was a day of good-byes, too…

We ended the day where we started the trip, at AP Tureaud Park, for a look at our finished work being used, and one last group photo…

What a great trip! Everyone should be very proud of the work they accomplished. It did not go unnoticed and unappreciated, that’s for sure! We made the world a much better place in just one short week!

On a personal note, I’m going to miss these kids tremendously. I really enjoyed getting to know them and trying to capture their essence with my camera. I think I did, and I hope they agree. Sometime in the next couple days I’ll post a link to the slideshow of headshots I did of each of them. In the meantime, if you want to see more photos of day 7 and 8 events, check out the Flickr slideshow.

You learn something new everyday…

As some of you know, the lens I used on 95% of the shots this week was rented. It’s the Nikon 17 – 55mm, f2.8, at it is beautiful! Well, I had to return it on Day 8 (Friday). :( I had a feeling this would happen before the week began but, I learned the true value of a good quality lens! The contrast, depth of field, smooth zooming, etc. all combined to produce beautiful images! I will miss you, Nikon lens, but we will meet again some day! :)
